Daycare Assistant (Fall 2023)

Description

Students will help with the supervision and safety of daycare children ages 18 months to ten years. Assisting with daycare activities such as walks, games, crafts, cleaning, acting as a runner between floors and programs, dressing children for outdoors activities, applying sunscreen and other tasks as required.

Dress code: No dangly jewelry, no crop tops. Leggings are ok as long as your top goes to the mid thigh area.

No offensive logos, no corporate logos related to food.

Children play outside in all types of weather, please wear snowpants, mittens, a warm jacket, hat, scarf and boots. 

No cell phones please.


If you have not done a Service Learning placement, you are required to attend one orientation.


We will be hosting orientations on:

  • Thursday September 21st  from 10-15am-12:15pm- -Coady- 242
  • Thursday, September 21st- from 5:30-7:30 pm Coady-242
  • Friday, September 22nd from 2:15-4:15pm- Coady-242

The RCMP will be in Coady 374 on:

  • Tuesday, September 12th  from 1:00-3:00pm
  • Tuesday September 19th from 1:00pm-3:00pm.
    Please do not go to the RCMP station.

Expectations of Service Learning Students:

  • Students must arrive on time.
  • Students must dress appropriately. (No inappropriate amount of skin or inappropriate slogans) Appropriate footwear is also required. 
  • “No scents is good sense”. Please do not wear scented products to your placement.
  • Electronic devices are not permitted for personal use while working at your placement.
  • If you are sick and contagious, please stay home.
  • Please contact your site supervisor and your Student Leader of any and all absences.

Inclement Weather Plan: Dress for the weather - boots, splash pants, hats, mittens, warm jacket, rain jacket. Cut off for playing outdoors is -25 degrees.
