Community Partner: The RK MacDonald Nursing Home, fondly referred to as “The RK” or “The Guest House” is home to 136 residents that provides residential care and organizes activities and support for elders and other persons with disabilities and dementia, with a focus on alleviating boredom, loneliness, and helplessness.
Location: 64 Pleasant Street, Antigonish
Directions: From campus, take College Street straight into town. You will pass the Town Hall. Keep walking on College Street until you come to the corner of Pleasant St, and you’ll be able to see the back end of the RK on your right. The RK is approximately a ten-minute walk from campus. Enter through front door.
Registration for one-time events begins Wednesday Sept 13th at noon and the deadline is Wednesday Sept 20th at noon.
- Expectations of Service Learning Students:
- Students must arrive on time.
- Students must dress appropriately. (No inappropriate amount of skin or inappropriate slogans) Appropriate footwear is also required.
- “No scents is good sense”. Please do not wear scented products to your placement.
- Electronic devices are not permitted for personal use while working at your placement.
- If you are sick and contagious, please STAY HOME.
- Please contact your site supervisor and your Student Leader of any and all absences.
