Antigonish Therapeutic Riding Association: Antigonish Therapeutic Riding Association provides horseback riding experience for children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities.
Student’s Role: StFX students to assist with walking beside the horses and providing support to children and/or adults as they ride. Experience working with horses is an asset, students must be comfortable around horses.
Schedule:
- First Term - September -October (six weeks)
- 6 students
- Monday 3-5pm and Tuesday 6:30pm-8:30pm – Students MUST attend both days
- Starting September 11th to October 24th (no session on Thanksgiving)
Required Screening: N/A Community Orientation: First day of placement
If you have not done a Service Learning placement, you are required to attend one orientation.
We will be hosting orientations on:
- Thursday September 21st from 10-15am-12:15pm- -Coady- 242
- Thursday, September 21st- from 5:30-7:30 pm Coady-242
- Friday, September 22nd from 2:15-4:15pm- Coady-242
Expectations of Service Learning Students:
- Students must arrive on time.
- Students must dress appropriately. (No inappropriate amount of skin or inappropriate slogans) Appropriate footwear is also required.
- “No scents is good sense”. Please do not wear scented products to your placement.
- Electronic devices are not permitted for personal use while working at your placement.
- If you are sick and contagious, please STAY HOME.
- Please contact your site supervisor and your Student Leader of any and all absences.
